Yes folks, we have toll roads in the Gauteng (old Transvaal).
By taking public roads and letting a consortium of European companies “overhaul” them (for a tidy fee *read bribe* I’m sure), the local government has, in their words, “looked after the interests of the commuter by providing a slick and efficient road system funded by tolls”.
All hail African efficiency!
Note: by efficiency, they mean widening the motorway by an average of 1 lane either direction. Great, until you discover that they used the emergency lane to achieve this. The traffic jam you see was caused by ONE broken down vehicle that had no emergency lane to be moved to. EPIC FAIL like only Africa can.
